New Director of APHIS Named
April 16, 2004 - Ron DeHaven, D.V.M., April 9 was
appointed Administrator of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection
Service (APHIS). Dr. DeHaven has served as deputy administrator
of APHIS for veterinary services, the nation's chief veterinary
official, since April 2002. He has also served as deputy administrator
of the Animal Care unit of APHIS, where he was responsible
for administering the Animal Welfare Act.
