VA Under Secretary for Health Resigns

April 9, 2004 - Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Under Secretary for Health Robert Roswell, M.D., April 5 announced his resignation, effective immediately. Dr. Roswell has been with the VA since 1976, including service as Director of Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 8 from 1995 - 2002 when he was confirmed as Under Secretary for Health. Dr. Roswell will continue to serve in a consulting capacity while a national search committee is convened to identify a permanent replacement. Deputy Under Secretary for Health Jonathan Perlin, M.D., Ph.D., will assume the role of Acting Under Secretary for Health.
