VA CARES Report Delayed

January 9, 2004- The Chairman of the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) Capital Asset Realignment for Enhanced Services (CARES) Commission announced Dec. 22 that the panel needed more time to complete its analysis of the materials generated from the commission's 38 regional meetings. Commission Chairman Everett Alvarez said the report would be delayed by four to six weeks from the original delivery timeframe of mid-December. CARES is the Department's systematic planning process to prepare VA's facilities and campuses to meet the future veterans health care needs. The AAMC testified before the CARES Commission on April 2 and Oct. 7, 2003 (PDF, 4 pages - 41KB).
