Perlin Named Acting VA Research Chief

December 12, 2003 - Department of Veterans Affairs Deputy Under Secretary for Health Jonathan Perlin, M.D., Ph.D., Dec. 5 was named Acting Chief Research and Development Officer (CRADO) of the VA research program until further notice. Due to a pressing family concern, former CRADO Nelda Wray, M.D., M.P.H., has returned to Houston for an indefinite period. VA officials also announced that, "out of fairness," a decision was made to award funding to the 15 investigators whose grants were not funded by Dr. Wray after being verbally approved prior to her appointment.
