NIH Increases Loan Repayment Awards

November 14, 2003 - The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Nov. 4 announced that it has awarded two-year loan repayment awards to 1,200 health researchers in FY 2003 at cost of $63.3 million. This represents an increase of 66 percent over the number of awards made in FY 2002. NIH administers five loan repayment programs: clinical research, clinical research for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, contraception and infertility research, health disparities research, and pediatrics research. Awards cover up to $35,000 annually of individual's qualified educational loans and the taxes related to the payments.
