NQF Mammography Committee Discusses and Identifies Measures

September 26, 2003 - The coordinating committee for the National Quality Forum's (NQF) Mammography Center Measures project Sept. 22 met to discuss and recommend a set of measures for consumers and providers on mammography center quality. The co-chairs of the coordinating committee are Diane Blum, ACSW, and Valerie Jackson, M.D. The committee recommended measures in the following areas:

  • Mammography facility accreditation;
  • Number of screening mammograms performed per year;
  • Patient experience of care;
  • False positive and false negative rates; and
  • Coordination of care in reporting results.

This project is sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and is not a NQF consensus project. The identified measures will be pilot tested and if successful may go through the NQF consensus development process.
