CMS Publishes Revised Occupational Mix Survey Instrument

September 26, 2003 - The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Sept. 19 published in the Federal Register [68 FR 54904] a notice seeking comments on a revised survey to collect data for constructing an occupational mix adjustment to the Medicare hospital wage index. Comments on the survey must be mailed within 30 days of the Federal Register notice.

The Benefits Improvement and Protection Act (BIPA) requires CMS to collect data on the occupational mix of hospital employees for the purpose of constructing an occupational mix adjustment to the Medicare hospital wage index for use beginning in FY 2005.
