Berg Named NIGMS Director

August 29, 2003 - National Institutes of Health Director Elias Zerhouni, M.D., Aug. 27 announced the appointment of Jeremy M. Berg, M.D., as the new director of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. Dr. Berg currently serves as director of the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences and professor and director of the Department of Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Berg is expected to join NIGMS in November, replacing Judith Greenberg, Ph.D., who has served as Acting Director of the institute since March 2002.
