President Announces Intended ASH Nominee

July 25, 2003 - President Bush July 23 announced his intention to nominate Cristina Beato, M.D., to be the next Assistant Secretary for Health (ASH) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Dr. Beato currently serves as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at HHS and previously was Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. Once formally nominated, Ms. Beato will need to be confirmed by the Senate.
