AHRQ to Support Risk Assessment Grants

April 25, 2003 - The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) announced April 8 a request for applications from for-profit and non-profit organizations for 5 to 10 Safe Practices Implementation Challenge Grants. The grants are designed to assess patient safety risks to patients and devise ways to prevent them, as well as to implement safe practices to eliminate or reduce known hazards in the patient care setting.

The Agency expects to award up to a total of $3 million, with grant recipients required to provide a minimum of 50 percent of the total costs. Letters of intent are due June 16, and applications are due July 15. A special technical assistance workshop and conference call is scheduled for June 12.
