Jindal Steps Down

February 21, 2003 - Department of Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation Bobby Jindal announced Feb. 13 that he will step down from his position effective Feb. 21, to "consider other opportunities in his home state of Louisiana." President Bush nominated Mr. Jindal for his current position in March 2001. His duties have also included leading the Secretary's Regulatory Reform Committee and Research Coordinating Council. Prior to joining the Administration, Mr. Jindal was President of the University of Louisiana system. He has also served as Executive Director of the National Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare, and as the Louisiana Secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals.
