AAMC Urges Full Funding for Health Professions

December 20, 2002 - The AAMC, as part of the Health Professions and Nursing Education Coalition (HPNEC), Dec. 18 sent a letter to the House and Senate Leadership and the chairmen and ranking members of the full appropriations committees and Labor-HHS-Education subcommittees, urging funding be restored to the Title VII and VIII health professions programs. The President's FY 2003 budget essentially eliminates funding for the Title VII health professions programs, which are designed to enhance and diversify and health care workforce. House and Senate leaders reportedly are planning to complete the FY 2003 appropriations bills by the end of January [see Washington Highlights, Dec. 13].
