Physician Fee Schedule to be Published Dec. 1

November 22, 2002-The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced this week that it expects to publish the final regulation on the 2003 Physician Fee Schedule on or about December 1. The 2003 Rule will include a minus 4.4 percent change to the Conversion Factor. The 2003 fee schedule will become effective on Feb. 1, 2003, and the 2002 fee schedule will remain in effect during January 2003. CMS expects to send communications to physicians in mid-December, and will likely extend the provider enrollment period to the end of January.
