On the Hill

November 1, 2002-Senator Paul Wellstone (D-Minn.) passed away in a plane crash on Oct. 25. First elected to the Senate in 1990, Senator Wellstone was seeking re-election to a third term in the Senate. He was a member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), Agriculture, Foreign Relations, Small Business, Veteran's Affairs and Indian Affairs committees. Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura (I) is expected to appoint someone to serve the remainder of the current term.
