The committee also approved $405 million for VA medical and prosthetics research, an increase of $34 million over FY 2002 and $5 million more than the Senate.

For the NSF, the committee provided $5.4 billion, an increase of $614 million over the current year. This total includes $4.15 billion for NSF research, an increase of $552 million.
