HHS Holds Stakeholders Meeting on Strategic Plan

September 6, 2002-The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) convened a meeting Aug. 29 to discuss its five-year draft strategic plan. The plan contains eight strategic goals for accomplishing the mission of protecting and improving the health and well being of the American people. AAMC staff attended the meeting to share with HHS staff comments on the plan.

The AAMC also submitted a comment letter Sept. 5 addressing a number of goals, including improving response to public health threats, improving access to care by decreasing disparities and increasing access, enhancing the capacity of the health science research enterprise, and improving the quality of health care services.
