HHS Awards Child Trauma Grants

June 28, 2002- Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Tommy Thompson June 19 announced the awarding of approximately $11.4 million in new grants to improve treatment and services for children and adolescents exposed to traumatic events. These grants, funded in part with $7.2 million from the Public Health Service Emergency Supplemental fund, are designed to improve treatment and services for children and adolescents exposed to traumatic events.

The 18 grants were awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and include $1.8 million to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and $1.7 million to New York University.
