AHRQ, VA Announce Joint Program to Translate Research Into Practice

February 22, 2002 - The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Feb. 19 announced the release of a joint program announcement for "innovative and rigorous research and evaluation projects related to the translation of research findings into measurable improvements in quality, patient safety, health care outcomes and cost, use, and access." The program announcement refers to two specific categories of applications. Dual/twin projects where comparisons are made by implementing the same study inside and outside VA will be jointly funded by VA and AHRQ, and general translation/non comparison studies will be funded by AHRQ.
