On the Hill
There are currently four vacancies in the House of Representatives,
leaving party ratios at 219 Republicans, 210 Democrats and 2 Independents.
Special elections will be held in Florida and Massachusetts on Oct.
16 to replace recently retired Rep. Joe Scarborough (R-Fla.) and the
late Joseph Moakley (D-Mass.). Arkansas will hold a special election
Nov. 20 to replace Rep. Asa Hutchinson (R-Ark.) who was recently sworn
in as administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency, and South Carolina
has announced a Dec. 18 special election to replace Rep. Floyd Spence
(R-S.C.) who passed away on Aug. 16.
