Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) won the Oct. 10 House Minority
Whip election to replace David Bonior (D- Mich.) who announced he will
resign from the Whip post on Jan. 15 to concentrate on his run for Governor
of Michigan next year. Rep. Pelosi won the election by a vote of 118-95
over Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.).
The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee Oct. 9 endorsed
the nomination of John Marburger, Ph.D., as director of the Office of
Science and Technology Policy. The nomination must now be approved by
the full Senate.
