Bush Nominates
Marburger For OSTP Director
President Bush June 25 announced his intention to nominate John H.
Marburger, III, Ph.D., to be Director of the Office of Science and Technology
Policy (OSTP), a position also referred to as the Presidential Science
Advisor. Currently director of the Department of Energy's Brookhaven
National Laboratory and president of Brookhaven Science Associates,
Dr. Marburger served as professor and president of the State University
of New York at Stony Brook from 1980 - 1994, and professor of physics
and electrical engineering from 1994 - 1997. Dr. Marburger holds a BA
in physics from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in applied physics
from Stanford University. The nomination will be forwarded to the Senate
for confirmation.
