Wilensky to Co-chair New Veterans Health Care Panel

President Bush May 28 established the President's Task Force to Improve Health Care Delivery for Our Nation's Veterans. Gail Wilensky, Ph.D., former HCFA Administrator and MedPAC Chairman, was named as co-chair of the task force along with former Representative Gerald Solomon (R-N.Y.). Executive Order 13214 [66 Federal Register 28447] establishes the 15-member task force with the intention of improving coordination between the separate health care systems of the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense. The task force will deliver an interim report to the President nine months after its first meeting and a final report prior to the end of the second year of the task force's operation. The task force will sunset no more than two years from the date of the order.
