House Appropriations Committee Chair C.W. Bill Young (R-Fla.) Jan. 4
announced the names of the 13 appropriations subcommittee chairs for the
107th Congress. Rep. Ralph Regula (R-Ohio) will succeed retired Rep. John
Edward Porter (R-Ill.) as the chair of the Labor, HHS, Education, and Related
Agencies Subcommittee. Rep. Regula had previously chaired the Interior
Subcommittee.
Rep. Henry Bonilla (R-Texas) will chair the Agriculture Subcommittee,
which also has jurisdiction over the FDA. Rep. James Walsh (R-N.Y.) will
remain as the head of the VA, HUD, Independent Agencies Subcommittee.
Other subcommittee chairs will be:
Commerce, Justice, State, the Judiciary and Related Agencies - Frank
Wolf (R-Va.); District of Columbia - Joe Knollenberg (R-Mich.);
Energy and Water Development - Sonny Callahn (R-Ala.);
Foreign Operations, Export Financing, and Related Programs - Jim Kolbe
(R-Ariz.); Interior and Related Agencies - Joe Skeen (R-N.Mex.)
Legislative - Charles Taylor (R-N.C.);
Military Construction - David Hobson (R-Ohio);
National Security - Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.);
Transportation - Harold Rogers (R-Ky.); and
Treasury, Postal - Ernest Istook (R-Okla.).
