With a rapidly changing health care delivery environment, there is a pressing need for a well-trained, diverse supply of health care providers educated through these programs. By providing $436.2 million for the Title VII and VIII health professions programs, you have enabled these programs to continue to improve the quality and diversity of the health professions population. Further, this funding ensures that well-trained medical professionals can work in rural and other underserved areas, where quality health care is most desperately needed. The members of HPNEC recognize the difficulty in completing the appropriations bill, which includes many competing priorities, and greatly appreciate your continued commitment to these programs. As you know, a top priority for many Americans is access to quality health care, and the health professions and nursing education programs are a critical element in providing this access. We look forward to working with you in the upcoming year to continue the necessary support for these important programs.
