CorrespondenceThank You Letter to House Labor, HHS, Education Appropriations Subcommittee Chair Regula
January 10, 2003 The Honorable Ralph Regula Dear Mr. Chairman: The Health Professions and Nursing Education Coalition (HPNEC) thanks you for your continued support for the Title VII and VIII health professions and nurse programs in your recently introduced FY 2003 Labor-HHS appropriations bill (H.R. 246). HPNEC is an alliance of organizations representing a variety of schools, programs, providers, and community-based initiatives dedicated to educating health professions personnel. The Title VII and VIII programs are the only federal programs that seek to enhance the nation's health care workforce with an emphasis on training a diverse pool of providers to work in underserved areas. The funds provided in your bill will permit thousands of students to pursue their health professions education and maintain the training infrastructure developed by health professions schools and health care facilities throughout the country. We greatly appreciate your leadership and support on behalf of these programs, particularly in such lean budgetary times. The HPNEC member organizations look forward to working with you to sustain funding for these programs that are vital to delivering health care to the nation's underserved communities. Sincerely,
