Services

Medical schools and teaching hospitals rely on AAMC services, which include:

  • CurrMIT is an online database helps medical schools organize, manage, and report on their curriculum.

  • FindAResident allows candidates and programs to search for and fill unfilled residency and fellowship positions.

  • GME Track is a resident database and tracking system that assists GME administrators and program directors in the collection and management of GME data.

  • Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME)—The AAMC and the American Medical Association are cosponsors of the LCME, the national accrediting body for M.D. degree programs in U.S. and Canadian medical schools.

  • MedEdPORTAL, a free online database that facilitates sharing of peer-reviewed educational material.

Data

The AAMC provides an extensive array of data and reports, including:

  • FACTS compiles comprehensive data on applicants, matriculants, graduates, MD-PhD students, and residency applicants.

  • Faculty Roster, an online database of full-time faculty with appointments at U.S. medical schools, supported by the National Institutes of Health.

  • Medical School Profile System is a database containing information on U.S. medical school revenues and expenditures, faculty counts, curricula, student enrollment, and student financial aid.

  • Project Medical Education brings policymakers and opinion leaders to medical schools and teaching hospitals to experience the process of medical education and see first-hand how academic medicine benefits society.

  • Student Records System (SRS) houses secure, centralized enrollment information on the national medical student population and tracks student progress from matriculation through graduation.

Publications

AAMC electronic and print publications deliver news, data, and analysis. These include:

  • AAMC Data Book, an annual publication that provides current and historical data related to U.S.medical schools and teaching hospitals

  • Academic Medicine is the most widely cited journal in its field. Academic Medicine publishes articles on the pressing challenges facing the leaders of medical schools and teaching hospitals today.

  • Analysis in Brief presents recent findings from the AAMC's data collection and research activities in a concise, easy-to-read report.

  • Directory of Medical Education (DAME), the AAMC's annual compendium of U.S. and Canadian medical schools and teaching hospitals, as well as their key staff.

  • Medical School Admissions Requirements (MSAR), a comprehensive guide featuring the most up-to-date information about medical school entrance requirements, curriculum features, first-year expenses, financial aid, and application procedures.

  • Reporter, the AAMC's monthly news publication, covering major programs and initiatives at the AAMC and member institutions, as well as broader issues that affect the academic medicine community.

  • STAT (Short, Topical and Timely), a weekly electronic newsletter featuring brief and immediate news bites about AAMC activities, as well as policy developments, initiatives and data important to the academic medicine community.

  • Washington Highlights, a weekly electronic newsletter focused on key federal legislative and regulatory developments.
