Albany Medical College "Project MedSCOPE (Medical Student Community
Outreach for Prevention and Education)"
A new component of the
program, "Bring it to the Courts," will provide middle school, at-risk,
inner city children with a safe place to play on Saturday afternoons
while teaching them skills to build confidence and self-esteem.
Duke University School of Medicine "Fremont People's Clinic"
This project will provide residents over the age of five with free
healthcare, educational activities, and assistance with applying
for insurance in a rural area of North Carolina.
George Washington University School of Medicine "HEAL Clinic
(Healthcare, Education, and Life)"
An evening clinic will operate
in Washington, DC to increase access to primary and urgent care
as well as offer preventive education in order to expand services
at Bread for the City.
Georgetown University SOM "HOYA Clinic (Health outreach for Youth
and Adults)"
Comprehensive pediatric and adult care will be
provided to families at the DC Village Emergency Family Shelter.
Services will include gynecological exams, tuberculosis screenings,
and additional lab services.
Medical University of South Carolina "CARES Clinic" (Community,
Aid, Relief, Education Services)"
This clinic will provide free
primary care to residents who have no insurance. The clinic will
primarily treat diabetes, hypertension, and sexually transmitted
diseases and provide education on disease prevention and how to
manage chronic disorders.
University of California at Los Angeles David Geffen SOM "UCLA
Mobile Clinic"
Street-based health care and social support will
be provided to the homeless, transiently housed, and low-income
individuals who have no access to healthcare.
University of California, San Francisco "San Francisco Hepatitis
B Collaborative"
This project's goals are to decrease Hepatitis
B infections through health education, screening, advocacy, and
vaccinations in addition to providing the community with the resources
and support needed to raise awareness and community outreach.
University of Hawaii: John A. Burns SOM "Hawaii HOME Mobile Medical
Clinic"
Medical students and physicians will provide access
to free medical services for the homeless via a renovated van.
